Helped the Iranian Writer's Guild build a school so these children no longer have to use a tent as a classroom.
What follows is a translation of the thank you letter (pictured below) from Ms. Simin Behbahani, a famous Iranian poet. (My apologies for any mistakes in translation, I would appreciate if any Persian speakers would let me know of a better translation.)
Bravo to the hand,
That dresses the wounds,
And sooths the souls of weary minded.
The feeling of sympathy and passion to help is beautiful,
How blessed are the hands that help a fallen.
You, friends from the other side of the world, the Iranians scattered around the globe, are the representatives of valuable Iranian culture. You make Iran and Iranians proud.
On behalf of the distressed victims of the Bam earthquake, the Writers' Guild of Iran, and myself, I send my appreciation to you and your honorable American friends for donating two million Tomans ($2,500) to our cause. With your help, and the help of other kind people, the Writers' Guild of Iran is going to build a school in the city of Bam.
Simin Behbahani
